I have been unironically playing Roblox Dress to Impress for about a week. Although, I am not an avid video game lover, I am a lover of fashion. So here’s my honest review of the game so far:
The game consists of 5 minute rounds where the player has to put together an outfit that aligns with the theme given in the round. The various themes range from time period specific (80s, 90s, 2000s) to more open like “free style”. You play in a lobby of about 10 players on average and the winner is determined by vote of stars given by all of the players. Whoever gets the most stars is the winner.
You get a set number of pieces, makeup styles, skin colors, hair styles, and accessories. There is a lot you can do with the free items, however, there is added incentive to buy the “VIP” pass to gain access to more items. The micro transactions in this game are not terribly egregious. The game is still playable without paying for extras. Throughout each round, there’s “money” you can collect to buy exclusive items in the main area.
(I have not been the VIP area but I am tempted everyday.)
I have won a few rounds without having the VIP pass. You can change all of the pieces with different colors and patterns, it’s really easy to get creative with what is available to you. I have been in a fashion rut lately and it’s been really fun to express myself with clothes while still allowing my self to rot in bed.
However, my criticisms of the game is that some themes can be more repetitive than others. Some of the themes are more niche, making them more difficult to style (didn’t know what Moro kei was before this game).
Overall, this is a fun, easy game for those who love fashion. Just don’t get too frustrated if you don’t win, the wins are merely votes based on the taste of the people in your lobby. Which for the most part are probably children. You’re playing Roblox.
